G. Faye Dant, Hannibal's Invisibles Author Talk & Description
G. Faye Dant, author of Hannibal's Invisibles and founder of Jim's Journey: The Huck Finn Freedom Center in Hannibal, MO, will present an author talk about her experiences confronting the reality of the past and surfacing overlooked histories in her small river community. Following Dant's talk, Engage Winona will facilitate a conversation about engaging with discomfort in community work.

ABOUT HANNIBAL'S INVISIBLES
Published by Belt Publishing, Hannibal's Invisibles brims with vintage photographs collected by Dant and interviews of previous and current residents of Hannibal, MO. It tells the incredible story of the Black community in this small Missouri town, albeit a universal story of resilience and accomplishments. Looking for a copy? Artist G. Faye Dant & Jim's Journey are supported by the Spillway initiative of Art of the Rural. Through support for artists, culture bearers, artisans, and storytellers – alongside the local organizations that support them – Spillway works to create the conditions for engaged projects that honor diverse lived experience, deepen regional relationships, and build rural-urban networks of knowledge-sharing and exchange that will create opportunities for artists, culture bearers, and artisans to thrive, connect with new colleagues and audiences.

Winona County community members: Join us for a community listening session to share your input regarding affordable housing in Winona County, and the role of Habitat for Humanity Serving Winona County. Community input received at the event will be anonymously summarized and shared with the Habitat for Humanity Serving Winona County Board of Directors.

Everyone Deserves a Home : Panel Discussion
A home is more than a roof and walls. On April 9th, 6:30 pm, join Engage Winona's Winona Area Kitchen Table to hear from community members about their experiences with inadequate housing, housing insecurity, and homelessness, as well as their hopes for the future of housing in Winona.
Experience the powerful narratives of community members as they shed light on housing challenges and aspirations. Listen to discussions on reshaping the future of housing, fostering collaboration among local resources, and creating a more compassionate community. We hope you join us for an evening of empathy, insight, and collective action towards ensuring everyone has a place to call home.
The Winona Area Kitchen Table is a program of Engage Winona. The Kitchen Table supports a cohort of people who have experienced housing instability to build their community leadership skills and vision and advocate for housing solutions in the Winona area. East End Potluck Lunch and BINGO!
Join the Minnesota Rural-Urban Exchange (RUX), Our Voices, and Engage Winona at the East End Rec Center on July 15 for a potluck-style brunch, play East End bingo, and learn about building community through stories, art, and organizing. Come by anytime!

Community Mural Unveiling with the Joy Labs!
Join Engage Winona and the Joy Labs for a mural celebration at Sobieski Park Lodge!

This summer, we partnered with the Joy Labs to host a series of community mural painting events. Over 300 community members came out to help us represent Winona’s vision and values on 5 mini-murals, which will be unveiled at the celebration. You'll have a chance to make a painting to take home, learn more about the project, share your thoughts with us, and enjoy light snacks! Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
This event is part of Engage Winona's outreach for the City of Winona Comprehensive Plan - a strategic plan that sets goals for Winona's next 20 years.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.

Winona Walks: Explore Historic Preservation
Thursday, August 11, 5-6 pm - Explore Historic Preservation! Meet at Windom Park.
Join Engage Winona for a walk this summer - and give your input for Winona’s future! We’re hosting three Winona Walks, where you’ll have an opportunity to explore different areas and share how you experience each place. This series of walks is part of Engage Winona's outreach for the City of Winona Comprehensive Plan - a strategic plan that sets goals for Winona's next 20 years.
Winona Walks last about an hour and involve walking about 2 miles total. Participants are welcome to go at their own pace and must sign a waiver before participating. Water and snacks are available at the start and finish.
